Itinerary
Meeting and assistance on arrival at Guwahati airport/ Railway station and transfer to Kaziranga. On Arrival check in at hotel in Kaziranga. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Kaziranga.
Start your day with an early morning jeep safari at Kaziranga National Park, followed by a visit to the Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park. In the afternoon, embark on another jeep safari. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel in Kaziranga.
Start the day with an early morning elephant ride at Kaziranga. After returning at the hotel, freshen up and have breakfast, then transfer to Guwahati and visit Kamakhya Temple before 1.00 PM (main temple open until 1:30 PM). If time allows, explore Guwahati, otherwise, enjoy a relaxing evening. Have dinner and stay overnight at your hotel in Guwahati.
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Cherrapunji, a journey that will introduce you to Meghalaya’s lush landscapes. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and start exploring the area. Dedicate your day to discovering more of Cherrapunji’s natural wonders. Head to the Mawsmai Caves, where you can marvel at impressive limestone formations. The best time to visit Meghalaya is from October to April. During this period, the weather is pleasant, and you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the state. The monsoon season, from June to September, sees heavy rainfall, but it also transforms the landscape into a lush green paradise, ideal for those who enjoy rain and waterfalls.
Indian citizens do not need any special permits to visit Meghalaya. However, foreign nationals need to register themselves at the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) in Shillong within 24 hours of arrival.
Meghalaya is well-connected by air, rail, and road: • By Air: Fly to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati (120 km from Shillong) for better connectivity. Shillong Airport (Umroi) is closer but has limited flights. • By Rail: The nearest railway station is Guwahati (100 km from Shillong). • By Road: Buses and taxis are available from Guwahati to Shillong and other parts of Meghalaya.
Kaziranga National Park is accessible via Guwahati, which has an airport and railway station. From Guwahati, you can take a taxi or private car for the approximately 4-5 hour drive to the park.
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Bring a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera with a zoom lens for wildlife photography.
