Itinerary

Meet & Greet on arrival at New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport and transfer to Phuentsholing (961 ft.) - The Gateway of Bhutan by Road from India. It is a thriving commercial centre on the northern edge of the Indian Plains. On arrival check in at the hotel. In the evening, you may choose to relax at the hotel or walk around the Phuentsholing town. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing

After breakfast, complete the immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan. On the way, stop at places to view scenery and for Photography. On arrival check in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

After breakfast, visit Kuensel phodrang (Buddha Dordenma) for views of Thimphu valley and the large Buddha statue. Then visit the National Memorial Chorten and the Folk Heritage Museum. In the afternoon, enjoy the panoramic view from Sangaygang Viewpoint, visit the Takin Preserve Centre, and Changangkha Lhakhang. In the evening, explore Tashichho Dzong. Overnight stay in Thimphu.  

After breakfast, drive to Punakha/Wangdue (4298 ft.), stopping at Dochu-La-Pass (10334 ft.) for Himalayan views and the 108 chortens. Upon arrival in Punakha, check in at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong and hike to Chhimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility. Enjoy a free evening. Overnight stay in Punakha/Wangdue.

After breakfast drive to Paro (7,483 ft.). On the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park. This park is a treat for nature lovers as the 36 species of exotic rhododendron and approximately 220 types of charming birds will make your day unforgettable. On arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong - National Museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious thangkha, etc. Then visit the Rinpung Dzong - Meaning "fortress of the heap of jewels". The dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Paro.

After breakfast, hike 2-3 hours uphill to Taktshang Monastery, known as the Tiger’s Nest. Legend has it Guru Rinpoche flew here on a tigress. In the afternoon, visit the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, destroyed by fire in 1647, offering views of Mt. Jhomolhari. En route back, stop at Kichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples. Overnight stay in Paro.

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Phuentsholing. On arrival check in at the hotel. In the evening, you may choose to relax at the hotel or walk around the Phuentsholing town. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

After breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport for your onward journey.

Vegetarian food will not be a problem at all throughout Bhutan - in fact, meat is an exception. The national dishes are Emma Datshi (Chili peppers and cheese) and the delicious red rice. You will find a tasty variety of fresh vegetables.

Bhutan’s official currency is Ngultrum which has a small value as the Indian rupee. Indian rupee is also legal in Bhutan. Denomination note of INR 100 or 50 may be used in Bhutan.
